Hajduk rebel movement wasn't mainly connected to Croatia but also very much to Serbia. The -vic yhich was added is the most usual surname ending in Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia.
It shouldn't be a new name.
There are loads of folk songs conserning hajduks.
