You are welcome, Lynn Yes both Serbia and Macedonia were part of what once was Yugoslavia. Of course, Serbia is still the option of his origin (there is a Resan village there as well, found by Robert). Just wanted to add one more option because of his mother’s residence remark. People back than were not re-locating that much. Early 20th century Macedonia was under the rule of the Kingdom of Serbia (no Yugoslav union up until 1918), and Macedonian names were often changed (SKI endings were changed to IC endings). That’s why I think that PERHAPS the surname was Donovski but at some point was changed to Donovic. Starting from 1945 such surnames were switched back to their original writing (SKI ending). I googled a bit and saw that Donovski people reside in Resan, Macedonia. There is one more thing pointing to Macedonia direction. See Yrakle’s Ellis Island record – there is a woman in line 15: she was also from Resna (another name for Resan), her daughter back home lived in Monastir (today: Bitola in Macedonia, near Resan). Perhaps they travelled together. Do you have ANY document left? Notify Administrator about this message?
