Meaning or Origin of this Surname, PLEASE

My ancestor's surname was Pelache. The story goes that it is spelled the way my great grandmother spelled it. She was Mexican and spoke only Spanish all her life. I have heard that my ancestor was Montenegrin. Can you shed any light on how this surname might have been originally spelled, what it might mean or the country of origin? Thank you.
