I have some updated information on the Botjanski, Botchanski, Botchansky name. My cousin told me that the Botchanskys came from Szarvas, Hungary--there was some kind of persecution going on and two brothers and their six sons fled Hungary, in the late 1700's. They migrated to Selenca, Yugoslavia. Michael Botchansky and his 4 sons Jano b. 1764, Andrej b. 1760, Martin b. 1770 and Duro b. 1766. Michael's brother John Botchansky who married Pavlia Gudzi--they are my 5th great grandparents through their son Martin b. 1760. John and Pavlia also had son Adam b. 1766. They changed their names from Botchansky with a y to Botjanski with an I. Also, the original spelling was Bochansky to Botjanski, Botchanski. Why the name change? Was there something going on in Hungary at that time? Notify Administrator about this message?
