Marlene: Thanks for your reply on the records of the Sentells. I will be looking forward to the papers. One reason I think that William and Sarah Sentell family of Pickens County..him 70 on 1850 Pickens County Alabama census and her age55 on the same census and the 1860 census in Pickens County shows William age 78 and Sarah age 65. They are not on the 1870 census there since, based on their age, they are assumed to be dead. However, their son Nathan is still there on the 1880 census and Nathan's son James is still there until his death. NOW, in Spartanburg County SC legal records (I have a book showing these legal records, sale of land, etc) thru 1823 and William Sentell and a Nathan Sentell are shown in every legal transaction that shows our Cardin/Carden family in the book. John Berry Carden/Cardin (and his sisters ..Yancey, Kilpatrick, and another one, along with my husband's ancestor are all near by in Pickens County on the 1850 census. John Berry Carden lived in Pickens County until his death but Vardy Cardin (my husband's ancestor and his sisters moved over into Choctaw County Mississippi by 1860 or so.) So, you see why I am so interested in the connection..I believe I know but am not positive. I do know that our Cardin family was in early Spartanburg County SC records. Bobbie
