Believe it or not, but I have an ancestor who fought in the Third Seminole War...and all the Indian Wars thereafter.
His name is Capt. Robert McDonald and he spent 30 years on the Western Frontier! He was also a Medal of Honor recipient for gallantry at Battle of Butte in the Wolf Mountains in Montana Territory in 1877 with Col. Nelson Miles, fighting the Sioux lead by Crazy Horse.

My ancestors were a scrappy bunch, weren't they? LOL
