Seminole Indian War, St. Augustine, E. Florida c. 1833-1838 or 1858

Searching for information on a BAUM, SPECHT, GEIBEL, or SIEFFERMAN involved in a Seminole Indian War in E. Florida (near St. Augustine), from about 7th February 183? on a "...march across the river to Tampa Bay." Individual gives vivid and detailed first-hand accounting (in German) of action with his Company G, and sister company E, both belonging to the 1st Artillary Regiment together with the 60-man South Carolina Volunteers. Individual was shot several times during the skirmish, and ended up in a hospital in St. Augustine, FL, with swamp fever and wounds. Some how the original year date was written over and could be 1833 (probably closer to the actual date), 1835, 1838 or even 1858. Does anyone have knowledge of a Seminole Indian battle that might have involved the above mentioned companies and S.C. volunteers? Does anyone know of any records of troops in battle in the Seminole Indian Wars in Florida? Please contact me. I have the original letter in German and an English translation supposidly from an ancestor, although he apparently did not sign the letter, or perhaps a page is missing.
