A biography/family history of John L. Selway is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 1017. John was born, 31 Jul 1861, to John R. and Jane (Reynolds) Selway. Children of John R. and Jane Selway: Charles (California); John Lloyd (Custer county, Montana); Robert R. (Sheridan, Wyoming); Senator E.O. Selway (Dillon, MT); Delos Duncan (Powder River county, MT); Blanche (Mrs. Lewis Alger, St. Louis, MO); Richard A. (Alzada, MT).
John L. was about five years old when brought to the Beaverhead Valley of Montana by his parents. John L.went into the sheep, cattle and horse business on his ranch in Powder River country.
On 2 Jun 1908, Custer county, MT, John L. married Miss Katherine Wiese, daugher of Jocklin Wiese, an Iowa farmer.
