Carole, do you know if your Mendip family were miners? The Mendips was a mining area.Our Selways left Somerset between 1842 and 1844, I believe they were recruited en bloc to work on the North east England coalfield and were likely to have travelled by train...a new form of transport that decade.(p.s.I am Debbie Howse's mother.)
