...hmmm...Aaron Seltzer, huh? That was my great-grandfather's name. My dad's (Isidore's) family emigrated from Berdichev, Ukraine in 1914, and I had heard stories of my grandpa, Max, doing everything in his power to avoid the Czarist draft. My grandpa had several brothers and sisters, but the only ones of whom I know are his brother Nathan, who lived in Jamaica Estates, NY, and who was a restaurateur; and the sisters (pardon the phonetic spellings!) Laitzeh, Dora, Faygele, and Drecha. Laitzeh lived in Fresh Meadows, NY, as do I, and I believe the other sisters resided elsewhere in Queens and Nassau County. To further complicate the situation, my mom was Episcopalian (as are my sister and I), and I had relatively little contact with my dad's family, as opposed to mom's family. My grandpa married Edis (Edith) Greenberg, and their two children were the aforementioned Isidore, and, Norma. Grandma and grandpa ran a dairy restaurant down in Miami Beach on Collins Avenue and 23rd for several years until grandpa died in 1959 (two years before I was born). My dad was a partner in the law firm of Olnick, Seltzer and Boxer. I believe my first cousin once removed, Nancy Seltzer, is the famous Hollywood press agent. (Nancy maintains offices in midtown Manhattan.) If any of this rings a bell, please feel free to write, as I sometimes feel as if half my heritage is missing, LOL! Matt P.S. Oh, one more thing: I have been told that we are descended from the Khazars, non-Semitic (Anatolian) converts to Judaism. How bizarre is that? M.
