Maternal grandfather, Jacob Seltzer of Richard J. See, whose birth took place in Womelsdorf, Berks County, he was one of 6 children born to George and Elizabeth (Seltzer) See. The former born 1799, Schuykill County. His wife, Elizabeth Seltzer was born in 1804, died Oct.7, 1884. George See died in 1869. Their children; Jonathan of Berks County, Charles of Ashland, Schuykill County, Eliza, deceased, Richard J., of Myrestown, Helen wife of John A. Oberly, of Oil City and Jane died young. Rel; Reformed. Thomas Sydenham Stein, of Lebanon County, was born 4/7/1848 in North Annville, a son of Dr. Henry and Matilda R. (Seltzer) Stein. Dr. Henry Stein was born in Annvillle, Oct 22, 1807, the son of Philip and Mary Anne (Stoever) Stein, who were born in Annivillle. Philip Stein was a hatter and he also served as a JP. Dr. Henry Stein studied medicine at Jefferson Medical College. He practiced for 30 years and died May 16, 1861. His wife, Matilda R. (Seltzer), whom he married Oct 13, 1840, she was born April 12, 1818, in Jonestown and she died May 28, 1896, a d/o John George and Elizabeth (Zimmerman)Seltzer, the latter was born May 27. 1782 and died Dec. 19. 1859. John George Seltzer, was born Oct. 16, 1782 in Jonestowns, Lebanon County, ad died Feb. 19, 1840. He was a prominet merchant and a member of the PA. Legislature. To John George and Eliz. were born; Samuel, 1801, became a Dr. and he moved to Ohio and he died there in 1852; Sarah, 1804, married John Capp, she died 1863; Mary, born 1806, died unmarried, in 1881; Elizabeth, 1808, married John Diller, she died 1849; George, 1810, died 1830; Priscilla, 1813, died 1831; John C., 1815, served in the PA Legislature, he died 1891; Matilada R., April 12, 1818, married Dr. Henry Stein and died May 28, 1899; Sabina 1820, married Rev. Hoffmeir of Manchester, MD and she died 1882. Thomas, 1824-1882. Col. A. Frank Seltzer, (lawyer). The name Seltzer is derived from Seltzer Springs, in the Duchy of Nassau, Germany from whick place, Mathias Seltzer, the founder of the American branch of the family emigrated. He located at Union Water Workds Lebanon County in 1730. There his grandson, Jacob Seltzer was born. Jacob married Eleanor Clark, who was born in Lebanon County, a d/o Benjamin Clark, aslo a native of this county John Clark Seltzer, son of Jacob and Eleanor and father of A. Frank Seltzer. He was the postmaster at Mt. Nebo then called Selterville. He married Elizabeth Faber, a native of Lebanon County. She was the d/o Jacob Faber, and the granddaughter of Philip Faber (born in Lebanon County) and a descendant of Adam Faber, who emigrated to America in the 17th century. A. Frank, attened Franklin and Marshall College. He was a 1st Lt. in Company G. 115th Regt.
