Gurley Sellers and family came to Jefferson Co. from Nash Co., N.C.Gurley, his wife Delila and several of their chilren/wives are buried near Bessemer in Blue Creek Cemetery.Gurley was also listed as Girley and Sellers as Selars and Cellars.
You note the S.C. connection.I have an interesting note on a couple of the Sellers in S.C.In the Spartanburg 1850 census the one named "Long" Sellers is actually Bennett Sellers and "Short" (you note Shrod) Sellers is Emanuel Sellers.Emanuel was Gurley's brother and I think Bennett may have been a brother also.Couple of "jokesters" I guess.Bennett's wife was Winny Rogers and Emanuel's wife was Fanny Rogers (sisters).
Hope this helps,
Jack Sellers
