Hi Joan, I'll gladly give you info on Sellers family fr. Upper Darby, Pa. I don't have dates for a no. of people, place, etc. What I do have I'll include.Samuel Sellers, a Quaker, was born in Derbyshire, Eng. (no date). Mrd. Anna Gibbon, also of Derbyshire. Fleeing religious persecution in Eng., the couple arrived in Penna. in 1681. Settled in Upper Darby, Pa.Their home stands today on
Marshall Rd., Up. Darby.Their family also founded Sellersville, Pa.
Samuel Sellers Jr. born in Upper Darby, PA.He mrd. Sarah Smith, not of Quaker faith, and was read out of Quaker Meeting.
John Sellers, son of Jr. and Sarah. fought in Am. Rev. He later pioneered in Kentucky where he mard. Ruth Claypool of Mercer Co., Ky.
Thomas W. Sellers, son of John Sellers & Ruth was born at Harrod's Station, Ky. in 1788. He marrd. Alethia Rowland and later moved to S.C.(He srvd. in War of 1812).
Alfred Sellers, son of Thos. and Alethia was born in S.C. He marrd. Sarah Walker of Alabama where they moved after marr. They later moved to Miss. They are listed in the 1850 Miss. Census. It appears there home was in Kemper County - possibly in or near the town of Scooba.Alfred and Sarah had 5 children: Wyatt, Sarah, Valentine Walker, Martha and Americus.
Valentine Walker was 20-21 when he joined the Confederacy in 1861. He was "captured" in Virginia in 1865.(family lore has it that he was sick and starving and he simply surrendered!)He married Indiana Deeble, my ggreatgrandmother on mother's side, and remained in Va. in the D.C. area.He is my Gggrandfather.Hope this helps, Sharon
