Hello to all other SELKIRKS wherever you are. I have just found this site and have become a member because I am about to start some family research on my paternal side. My full name is Norman Alexander Selkirk and I was born in Hampshire, England on 07 April 1938. At the time my father (who had exactly the same names as myself, as did his father before him - lack of imagination???) was serving in the Britsh Army. My father was born in Lancashire, England in October 1905 and his father was born in Clapham, London, England in 1877. I believe prior to that my paternal family came from Scotland...probably the Borders region). I have always been known as Sandy to family and friends (short for Alexander, and a typically Scottish name).
I have lived all my life in the UK apart from those periods when my father was serving abroad (Malta 1939 to 1943) and in Germany (1946 to 1949). Now I live in retirement in Herefordshire, England and therefore I have more time to devote to the fascinatiing subject of Genealogy and research into our own SELKIRK family history.
