I descend from Samuel Self, Sr, buried at Boxley, AR. His
daughter, Effie, was my grandma. I have a problem with the
info that Erby Coby Self is the son of Elijah Self born
in 1783.
First, my info states Elijah married Sarah Fletcher in
1816. My info states Erby was born in 1812. Something
about this info is in question.
Second, if Elijah was born in 1783 as my info indicated,
he would have been about 33 when he married Sarah Fletcher.
This does not make sense. It would make sense that Sarah
Fletcher is his second wife and Erby was a child by his
first wife. If this was the case, Elijah would have been
about 29 when Erby was born. This opens the fact that
Erby might not be the only child by the first marriage
if a first marriage happen.
I cannot believe that Elijah Self waited until he was 33
years old to get married. Either his birth date is in error, he was married before, or Erby is not his boy.
