I was recently doing some research in the McClung Library in the East Tennessee Historical Museum and came across a book about John Sevier (pronounced "se VERE"). It stated that his ancestors were French Huguenots, spelled "Xavier", and that they went to England to escape religious persecution before coming to America.

This is consistent with the Jesse Seaver history which claims that the Seaver/Siever/Sever, etc. family has an English branch, an Irish branch, a French branch and a German branch.
