John, my great-great-great grandparents were George and Veronica Seifert of Meissen, Saxony, Germany. They were born about 1817 and 1826, respectively, and emigrated to Manhattan (W.20s and W.40s) about 1851. They had a daughter named Christiana in 1855, a son named Adam, another daughter Kate, and three other children. George and Veronica were cousins, and Veronica's maiden name was also Seifert. George died of cholera in 1866 in a shanty on W.40th Street near 10th Avenue; Veronica remarried. She died of Bright's Disease and pneumonia in 1882 at 527 W.40th Street.
Any connection?--Kevin Alcott
PS, I'm originally from NY, but now live in Charlotte where George Seifert ironically coached the Panthers.
