Tinsey J. Cofield married John Richard "Dick" Williams, Sr. in Henry County, AL on 29 Mar 1876. This lady has been variously referred to as Tincy Segars, Tincy Cofield and Tincy Jane Scofield. In her family Bible, she referred to herself as Tincy Segars and listed Southward P. Segars and Elizabeth Anderson and their birth and death dates. I believe she lived for a time with Southward P. Segars (son of John and Haigan Segars) and his wife Elizabeth J. Anderson. Southward died during the War Between the States, leaving his young widow and a son, Charles Parker "Charlie Segars." Elizabeth Anderson remarried to George Elmore about 1875 in Henry County, AL. Southward P. Segars' brother, William Riley "Bill" Segars, married Elizabeth Anderson's sister, Mary Ann. They were the daughters of Charley and Sarah Anderson from Skipperville, AL. Southward P. and Bill Segars' sister, Millbury, married Luke Williams. Luke was the father of Dick (Tincey's Husband)Williams. Bill, Southward P. and Millbury's half-first cousin, Ira Ellie "Eli" (not E.J.)Segars, son of Southward "Thuman" Segars, Jr. and Clarkie Moore, is the man that signed for Tincey to get married. He was from Henry County, AL. Eli was born 3 April 1853 in Georgia. (note: Eli was only 5 years older than Tincey) Eli married Nancy Ann Rebehah Hargroves, daughter of Harmon B. Hargroves, Jr. and Nancy Ann Elizabeth Wiggins on 17 November 1875. Eli died 20 January 1936 in Houston County, Alabama and is buried with his wife at Memphis Church south of Dothan, Alabama. Most of Eli's children were married in Houston County, Alabama. But some did move to Florida. Clarkie Moore Segars Hollon died in Campbellton, Florida in 1961. Her sister, Ozie Pearl Segars Fort died in Florida in 1986. Rev. Noah Fletcher Segars, is buried with his parents at Memphis Church. Now, please tell me all about Tincey!
