My grandfather, (Patrick) has a sister named Mary, but as far as I know never ran a boarding home.
Mary did marry a Donlon, I think his first name was John. They had 2 children, Martin who became a priest, and Mary a daughter.
As far as I know, my grandfather and his sister were the first members of their family to live in the U.S.
My best guess as to when they arrived was prior to 1903, since I know their eldest child was born here that year.
Patrick and Elizabeth Seery had 6 children who were born in Brooklyn from the years 1903 to 1916.
Mary Ellen, Daniel, Elizabeth, Gertrude, John and Catherine.
Hope this helps
