I am not related nor researching this family but am posting it for anyone it might pertain to. In some documents in a trunk pertaining to the family I was researching was a deed made Deember 26, 1870 between a group of people who sold their interest in a piece of land in Benton co. MO to a man named Datus E Sedgewick for $1,400. Recorded Benton Co MO 31 Dec 1870
Note: A year later a piece of land was sold by Datus E Sedgwick on Aug 16, 1871 to Calloway Green Heath for $2888 and one for $500

Be it remembered that on this 26 day of December 1870 before me, the undersigned a notary public for Benton Co MO came Frank C Gillette and Helen M. Gillette his wife, George Gillette and Amanda Gillette his wife, and James R. Jones and Mollie E. Jones, his wife, to me personally known to be the same persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing, as parties thereto and they each acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned.....(I'm skipping here)...sold to D.E. Sedgewick for $1,400 all rights, title and interest and claim in and to the N 1/2 of NE quarter of Section 22 and the W /2 NW quarter and SE quarter of NW quarter and NE quarter of SW quarter of Section 23 Township 40 of Range 23, also 303 60/100 ares being the South 1/2 and the NE quarter (L.B.O.R) in Section no 13, Twp 40 of Range 23 and 40 and 48/100 ares being NE quarter (L.S.O.R.) Section 24 Twp 40 Range 23
