I would like to talk to anyone who has info. regarding George Sedberry and his family in NC. He was first found in Brunswick Co., VA. in the 1783 time frame, and it is said married a Birdsong. However, it may also be that she was his second wife, and that some of the children may have come from a previous marriage. What I would like to know is who is George's father? I believe that he may have originally come from the New Hanover Co., NC area prior to arriving in Brunswick Co., VA. I have heard some say that they believe that a John Sudberry was his father, but I have not seen any substantial proof of this. I am not disputing this, but would like to know more. I have a deed extract that places a George SIDBERRY with James Birdsong prior to 1770 in the NC area. Later this George SIDBERRY sells his New Hanover Co. NC propety, but he is listed as George SIDBERRY of Virginia. Now this is unusual since he had been a lifelong resident of the New Hanover Co. NC area prior to owning the property. Also, he is last known to have been in New Hanover in 1767, and afterwards had no activity in the county till he sold his property. This George SIDBERRY is also known as SIDBURY, SADBERRY, and SEDBURY. Secondly, in 1765, George witnessed the sale of property for a James Birdsong, in New Hanover Co., NC. I was wondering if this might be a Birdsong that is related to George's wife Mary (?) Birdsong. My interest here is that I have a George SIDBERRY et al that dissappears after 1784, and is last known to have come from VA. He had received his inherited land from his brother, Moses Sidbury/Sadbury in 1765, he would have been about 18 then, and paid taxes on it in 1767. No more activity after witnessing the deed till 1784 when he sells his property, and is identified as being from VA.! So, I have THEORIZED that he may be the same person who shows up in Brunswick Co., VA. records about the same time frame as his dissappearance from NC. I have more info. on George and his father, brother and sister, and would be glad to share this info. I realize that this is a long shot, but would like to talk to anyone about this. I have emailed this info to Glynn Pennington, but it was about a year ago when I first floated this idea to him, and have not gotten a response as yet. Dan DSadbe9725@aol.com
