Ken,
I would concur with Lori's analysis. It would seem Albert was a son of Samuel and Josephine Secrest, born about July 29, 1875 in Minnesota. Can not explain why the 1952 death record suggests he was only age 69.
Samuel and Josephine were living in Duluth (ward 1) in 1870, so his birth in that area makes sense.
Samuel was a son of Jacob and Rachel, his parents both died in the Stillwater area of Washington Co., Minnesota (of cholera) just a few weeks after traveling from Morgan County, Indiana (in 1852 according to the Washington County history of their son Ambrose).Jacob was a significant land-holder in the Morgan County area.He and his wife left the Rowan Co., NC area (for Indiana) shortly after their marriage there on August 10, 1815.
Samuel's first wife was Esther Munger who he married July 22, 1860 in Washington Co., Minnesota. She died on April 18, 1864, a few days after giving birth to their second child George (George died in Portland in 1915).
Samuel probably married Josephine about 1865, since an infant daughter of "S.L. and J. Secrest" was buried at Hazelwood Cemetery, Bayport, Minnesota (death given as March 04, 1866).This was the same cemetery that Samuel's first wife was buried.
