I believe that most, if not all, of the Seaver families in Hawkins County are descended from two brothers, Joseph and Jeremiah, who came to Hawkins County in the 1820s. They were the sons of William Severs, who died about 1817, leaving children in Wythe County, VA.
There is some evidence that some of William Severs relatives were in Hawkins County prior to the time that Joseph and Jeremiah came there, and it may be that William lived there for a period of time. His second wife, Margaret Cleek, was born in Hawkins County. The name of Joseph and Jeremiah's mother is not known.
This William Severs should not be confused with the William Seavers 1752-1852 who married Catherine Peck and lived in Knox and Anderson Counties before moving to Nodaway Co, MO. However, it may be that the two Williams were related, perhaps uncle and nephew, but that is speculation.
