I have looked at many spellings of Seaver in the past, but when I saw that my grandmother was listed in the 1850 cenus as Searce, that shocked me even more. So we can not assume the spelling at any cost as being correct. Remember that the "S" also looks like an "F" because it goes down under the line. I was reading in the paper an article printed about letters and how they came to change.
