I didn't have Harriet's exact DOB, but I had @1845. I also didn't know that they had lived in KY. I see that when I posted before, I left out 2 siblings who are on some family group sheets that Jane Fairburn compiled: Nelson b. @1840 and Sarah b. @1849. I also just recently found the following in the 1860 Hawkins Co. census:
Sever, John 64
This was from a transcription on the Hawkins Co. USGenWeb site. This has to be Joseph and Matilda. Evealin must be Emmaline and Luses must be Thomas. John has to be Joseph.
Here is what is known about Joseph Seaver's birth family: Unknown Seaver(s) (various spellings) died in 1818 in Wythe Co. VA. He left the following children: John (my husband's line), Henry, Joseph, William C., Christopher, Susannah and Jeremiah b. 1805 (Jane Fairburn's line) by one wife and Betsey, Matilda, and Nancy by another wife. The half-sisters were born after 1805.
Joseph and Christopher moved to Hawkins Co, TN at some point. John m. Nancy Riggle and William C. m. Sally Seacat and stayed in Wythe Co. Henry died in 1821, apparently unmarried. It is said that Christopher never married. Jeremiah was still a minor when their father died, and chose John as his guardian. When Jeremiah reached his majority, he moved to Hawkins Co. TN where he married (1) Nancy Thurman, by whom he had 11 children and (2) Elvira Counts (Kountz) by whom he had 8 children, accounting for many of the Hawkins Co. Seavers.
Two books by Mary Kegley summarize the court documents related to this family in Wythe Co:
_The Lost Children of Wythe Co. Virginia_ and _Early Adventurers in the Town of Evansham, v. IV_. Also, Jane Fairburn has published two articles about the family in _Distant Crossroads_, the journal of the Hawkins Co, TN Genealogical and Historical Society.
I suspect, but have been unable to find proof, that Joseph's father, Unknown Seaver, was related in some (close) way to Jacob Seaver who married Esther Croberger and moved from Scott, VA to Indiana about 1819.
Thanks for the information about Harriet's family. I'd love to have any information you have on any of Joseph's descendants.
