Thanks so much for your time and efforts.........really appreciated it and some of it is new information for sure.

As a Sayre: you probably already know that Sears is a fictious name: its an aberrant spelling of Sayre..mostly invented in North America.......especially in Europe....but Saar is very valid especially around the Hainault: Alsace Lorraine regions and up into Switzerland.

I am wondering about this Frederic because he is found in the 1850 Census of Des Moines Iowa living with Elisha Sears and daughter Rickey.......

But in 1856 there he is with this Amanda....

claiming married in 1849???


One of the son Charles relatives claims the family was haunted by some scandal: guess it could be related to this....

Christ: in northern Europe is usually Chrisostome:
or Chyrsostome......but close enough
