John Seayres Sears/1742 Spotsylvania
Posted by: v. suzanne sears (ID *****1949) Date: July 03, 2011 at 06:56:23
  of 2699

In Essex County

we find a number of references to John Seayres Sears......

In the Virginia County Records: 1721-1800
Deed Book:1742-1751 page 164

We find reference to:

John Seayres as a witness on October 1 1743

Thomas Edmundson Gentleman
of Essex County and his wife Dorothy

of a transfer of land to

James Garnett: Gentleman

some rather complicated land exchanges:

So far this is the earliest reference I have found in the 1700s as to where anyone named John Seayres Sears might have been residing.

From that date onwards: there is a fair number of mentions in time.....

Since one had to be 21 years to witness something I believe: it would make this John Seayres at least born no later than 1721.....

Is this a John of the John Siers lineage?

Spotsylvania did border Fauquier County: so
its possible.

Many times one can see persons originally named SAYER
tranformed into SAWYERS

In this case the spelling makes it clear the sound was SEARS and not SAWYER
