I am researching the family of Celia M. Sears and Zephaniah C. Hoagland of Elgin, Illinois. While I have quite a bit of information regarding the Hoagland side, I don't have anything on Celia's family connections.
One note in my family history handed down a couple of generations stated that Celia was the sister to a barrister, or judge, Nathaniel Sears. I have found nothing, however to substantiate this however. I have been unable to find a sister connected to Nathaniel's family.
Today, after "thinking outside the box" and opening up the searches a little bit, I found a possiblity that she might be the sister to Richard Warren Sears. I'm exploring that possiblity at this time. If you have any information or references that may help me in my research I'd very much appreciate your help.
My Celia was born about 1825, in Dryden, or Tompkins, New York. She died in Elgin, Illinois. Celia and Zephaniah had seven children, one of whom, a son, named Samuel C. Hoagland, is my direct ancestor to Celia.
