SEARLE/SEARLES NJ abt 1863

Your June 16 posting caught my eye; I think we may be related, albeit distantly. My father (George J., like me) died in 1953 at age 39; that means his d.o.b. was 1914.If my GF John fathered him at, say, age 20, that would suggest a d.o.b. of 1894 for John. And if John's father (my GGF)fathered him at, say, 20, that would suggest a d.o.b. of 1874 for him...not far removed from the d.o.b.'s of your William (1861) and Edwin (a bit later).I think either of them could easily be my GGF.I say all this because my own background is 100% Bayonne and Jersey City, and also because I seem to recall one of my aunts saying that her grandfather's name was William. The only problem is that the same aunt also said that the family was from Port Jervis, NY, but I'm thinking that maybe they moved out there at some point (perhaps for a railroad job...that was my grandfather's occupation) and then moved BACK to J.C./Bayonne.Otherwise, why go THERE from Port Jervis?Do you have any info on William and/or Edwin?Lately I've been developing some curiosity about all this.I realize, of course, that none of this is of much help to YOU in your "Cassidy" search, although I can tell you that during high school in the 1950s-60s I knew a Cassidy from the Lafayette section of Jersey City....maybe a connection, maybe not; obviously there are far more Cassidys than Searleses.
