Hello Ron,
Many thanks for the info on your Searle family.
Louisa Searle's husband, Thomas Cook, was a Master Mariner.
He worked the coastal routes between London and the North East of England mainly the River Tyne. At some point after their marriage he took Louisa to South Shields (at the mouth of the River Tyne)where she lived and died. Their 10 known children were baptised at St Hilda's Church, South Shields. They were:- Louisa Sarah bap 17th July 1816; Edward James bap 17th July 1816; James bap 23rd April 1818; Sarah bap 14th Nov 1819; Joseph bap 20th Feb 1822; Jeremiah bap 16th Jan 1825; William bap 5th Nov 1826; Richard bap 7th Dec 1828 (my Great Grandfather); Amelia bap 23rd March 1831; George bap 9th April 1834.
The family I am trying to link them with were children of Richard and Sarah Searle. They were baptised in the Deptford and Chatham area of Kent (Dockland London)and included Charles Nathaniel Searle b 20th July 1788; James b 24th March 1790; Sarah Elizabeth b 22nd January 1792; Edward b 23rd March 1794; Sarah b 29th August 1802; Amelia b 9th October 1803.(As yet I cannot find any record of Louisa's baptism)
I am going to the National Archives at Kew, London, in March and hope to do some research into the Searle family and hopefully find info on Louisa Searle. I will let you know if I find anything to link our families.
Regards,
Joyce
