Cheryl,
I have no argument that what Mark has is great & hope that if this project were to get off the ground, that he would definitely participate & contribute what he has.
The problem is that Internet resources, while great, tend to expire much more rapidly than the printed word. If something were to happen to Mark (God forbid) would his work continue? Internet resources, while great, are not a stable medium as a library or book store would be. At least with a published second revision, the book would (hopefully) be available in libraries, historical societies, and reprint shops such as Higginsonbooks.com.
I would like to see a second, corrected version published to give more of the Seamans family a chance to contribute their family history along with a chance to correct errors.
I am not against the Internet (as I am a network engineer), but I have seen too many web sites go "stale" because someone lost interest or didn't have enough time to devote to it. I definitely don't doubt Mark's dedication to the site that he's built (looks good, Mark), but everyone gets tired of doing it now & then. Keeping an active web site takes time & energy and even Mark has stated that he has a life also!
So, all I am trying to say is let's put it on paper!
Mike Seamans
