John and George Sealy of Galveston TX

I'm looking for information about the ancestors of John and George Sealy (Sealy Mattress, John Sealy Hospital, Sealy-Hutchins Bank). My family's oral history says that John left the east coast about the time of the nevada silver rush and wound up in the gulf of Mexico after a storm blew his ship off course. He settled in Texas, became wealthy and etc. etc. What I am interested in is whether this is true and are George and John uncles of John Jackson Sealy of New York (Black Jack)? John Jackson Sealy is as far back as any of us has been able to get and if the story is true then we may be able to trace John back two more generations to the parents of the Texans (who we know). For more information about Black Jack please visit the sight run by my distant cousin Pat. (http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/Heights/1741/index.html
Thanks and good luck
Phil
