My Aunt Gloria Breland Moore went to Texas once to try to find my Granny's people. When she got to Texas, and found the courthouse, they said all the records had been burned. They did, however, give her a lady's name to talk to. My Aunt went to the lady's house, and when the lady answered the door, my Aunt knew she had the right family because she said the lady looked so much like Granny that she could have been her twin. The woman said she didn't know about my grand mother. I didn't ever find out who that lady was. That was about 1958 I was 12 years old then. I'm 56 years old now. My Great grandfather Taylor didn't tell granny about her mother until she was grown. He said he took granny away with him when she was very young and put her in an orphanage in Louisiana until she was older and could take care of her self. I don't know why he did that. He said her mother's name was Viola Seals and she owned land in Texas.I found a tax roll for 1888 in Limestone Co., Texas with a Mrs. T.J. Taylor as head of a house, and owning land there. I believe this may be the right person. Granny has found her Mother by now "UP THERE" but I'm still looking :-)
