Walter, I cannot find your James Fredrick Seagroves in my data base listed as such and would like to be able to add him in.Could you please give me your reference sources for your information on him so I can look him up and include him?
I could not find a James Fredrick or any such person of that age among the children of the 8 families listed in Chatham Co., NC on the 1900 census. The closest are Herbert, Jul 1897, son of Albert Segroves; William T., Jun 1896, son of Artemus J. Segroves; and Robert A., Oct 1898, son of Thomas W. Segroves.
The only interesting clue is on the 1910 census for Chatham Co.Under the listing for Amanda Segroves there is listed a Fred J., son, 37, and a Donah, dau-in-law, 24.
That Fred is listed under Amanda in Oakland Twp., Chatham Co. on the 1900 census as born in April 1874.
When I checked on Frederick J. Segroves, I found him listed as a son of William H. C. and Amanda Segroves. This William was born 16 Jul 1832 in NC to Charles Segraves and Mary (Polly) Parish. He married Amanda (last name unknown) probably in the early 1850s and died 14 Mar 1895 in Chatham Co., NC.
William H. C. and Amanda had the following children:
1. Thomas W., b. 13 Dec 1854, NC
2. John Frank, b. Apr 1858, NC
3. Richard R., b. Mar 1862, NC
4. Edward G., b. abt. 1866, NC
5. Wharton, b. Mar 1869, NC
6. Albert, b. Feb 1872?, NC
7. Frederick J., b. Apr 1874, NC
8. Minnie, b. abt. 1878, NC
9. Lottie, b. May 1880, NC
10. Alma, b. Mar 1883, NC
I hope this is still of use to you.If you would like I can provide reference sources for this material.I would also appreciate any new information on these folks you may have discovered.
