I have been searching for a John Seager who would have been born at about the same time as your John Seager. I don't know where he was born in the U.K. but probably in the South. I think that he may have been a sailor and I know that he was in Tobago and working as some sort of foreman at around 1850.He was married and had a young family. His wife Margaret (on 1881 census) states that she was born in the West Indies. Sons Richard, John, and James born between 1850 and 1855. Two daughters Margaret and Eliza born 1857 and 1859. There may have been other children who were not living at same address at census time (1861). We assume that John died in Tobago or soon after returning to the U.K. because we have Margaret wife of John aged 47 and the children all living in the East End of London on the 1861 census.
