B4 JOHAN LORENTZ SIEGRIST
Born PENNSYLVANIA 15-JAN-1731
Died 18-MAY-1825
Buried SOUTH ANNVILLE TWP, LEBANON CO, CO, PENNSYLVANIA
Residence SOUTH ANNVILLE TWP, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA
Certainly, Bartholomew and Eve Siegrist had a son Johan Lorentz and his birth date as given as above is widely accepted and we have no reason to think he was not born in Pennsylvania. However, a Johan Lorentz Siegrist arrived in Philadelphia aboard the ship "Easter Branch" on 3 October 1753.If this is the same person, he must have traveled to Europe and back before he was 23 years old. While this is not out of the question, it is plausible that these are two different individuals. The birth and death dates above agree with the those on the monument about a mile south of Annville on land that was Lorentz' homestead, although it is not the original marker.
He paid taxes on 150 acres of land in Earl Township of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1771 - 1773 and on 200 acres in what is now Annville Township of Lebanon County in 1779.A Johan Lorentz Siegrist took the oath of allegiance in 1777 and served in the Lancaster County militia during 1782 - 1786.
JOHAN LORENTZ married HILL LUTHERAN CHURCH 29-DEC-1767 to
B4S MAGDALENA NOLL
Born 31-JAN-1751
Died 13-AUG-1806
Buried SOUTH ANNVILLE TWP, LEBANON CO, CO, PENNSYLVANIA
Parents: GEORGE NOLL and ____________-
Magdalena's death information is from the Hill Evangelical Lutheran Church Book that was written in German, that gives her birth date, father's name, and marriage date, that states she married Lorentz Siegrist, had 13 children and nine survived her.It also gave her age at death and stated her illness was pleurisy and fever.Hill Evangelical Lutheran Church was in what is now North Annville Township, not far from the Lorentz Siegrist homestead.
She was interred with her husband.
Reportedly, Lorentz and Magdalena had thirteen children, but we have found data on only eight of them.We presume that the other five died in childhood.
B41 SOLOMON SIEGRIST
Born 22-JUL-1771
Died 28-FEB-1825
Residence ANNVILLE TWP, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA
Solomon received a legacy of fifty pounds sterling from his uncle Solomon (B3) when he died in 1781.
This Solomon's family included 4 to 6 children in the 1800 census for Dauphin County, Pennsylvania (which included Annville Township from 1785 to 1813).
In his will, page 439 of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, Will Book A, Solomon left land to his son Henry, his household furnishings to his wife along with a dower of $217, and ordered the rest of his property be sold and the proceeds divided among his eleven children. He made special arrangements for the care and education of his two youngest children.
We do not know the birth order of his children, but it may be in the order found in his will.It is quite possible that his wife below was not his only wife and not the mother of all of his children.
SOLOMON marriedto
B41S MARIA CHRISTINA YETTER
Died ANNVILLE, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA SPR-1854
Maria was also described as Maria Galebach (or Gabbach), and it is not clear that she married _________ Galebach and had a child by him before she married Solomon.
She might have been much younger than Solomon since she survived him by almost 30 years. In the 1820 Lebanon County census, the oldest women in the household were 16 - 25 years old, and there were four of them.
In her will found on page 496 of Lebanon County Will Book C, she left her son, Frederick Galebach, " a tavern stand and lot of ground in Annville and the income from a certain dower in the estate of Solomon Siegrist deceased, the principal remaining unpaid to which I am entitled."The rest of her estate was to be "divided between Frederick Gabbach (sic) and Sarah Imboden (late Sarah Siegrist)".This will was written 24 April 1852, proved 11 May 1854, and executed by Henry Seigrist, probably her (step-?)son.
B42 JOHN SIEGRIST
Born ANNVILLE TWP, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA19-NOV-1782 Died ANNVILLE TWP, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA 2-AUG-1823
Buried SIEGRIST BURIAL GROUND, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA
John died when he was not yet 41 years old.His brother Jacob (B43) was co-adminstrator of his estate along with Philip Imboden. The brother Jacob died just five years later.Philip Imboden was guardian of John's children.
JOHN married CA-1806 to
B42S MARY MAGDALENA "MOLLY" MILLER
Born 3-MAR-1783
Died 13-SEP-1865
Buried SIEGRIST BURIAL GROUND, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA
Parents: RUDOLPH MUELLER and SUSANNA KLEMMER
According to W. H. Egli's "Pennsylvania Genealogies, 2nd Edition", Molly's father was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1746 and died November 1806 in Annville Township, which at that time was part of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
B43 JACOB SIEGRIST
Born ANNVILLE TWP, DAUPHIN CO, PENNSYLVANIA 7-NOV-1788
Died ANNVILLE TWP, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA 19-AUG-1828
Buried SIEGRIST BURIAL GROUND, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA
Cumings in his "Secrist Family of Pennsylvania gave Jacob's birth date as 7 June 1789.The one we have above comes from a DAR application and agrees with the relatively modern marker at the old burial site at the Siegrist homestead.
Jacob was administrator of his brother John's (B42) will, but died five years after his brother with no will himself.Henry Siegrist - probably B416 - and John Bachman were adminstrators of Jacob's estate. Those records along with Christina's subsequent will gave us the names for their children, all under 21 when Jacob died.Peter Killinger was made guardian of the boys and Dietrick Beaver of the girls.Henry died before his mother did, leaving no issue.Daniel also died before she did, but had children.Christina noted this in her will, but did not name the children.
JACOB married to
B43S CHRISTINA MILLER
Died LEBANON BORO, LEBANON CO, PENNSYLVANIA CA-1847
Christina's will was written 28 March 1845 and recorded 10 January 1848 on page 212 of Lebanon County Will Book C.
