JAMES MARTIN FATE:
Born 1842, the son of Thomas Fate and Sarah (Hull) Fate.
.

... "For a livelihood he farmed, worked at carpentry, taught school, filled offices of community and county, was an inventor of machines, and a thinker and interesting talker along lines of political economy. He was converted at twelves of age, joined the M.E. Church in Ohio. He was a charter member of the Richland church, and filled important lay offices in young manhood.

When about twenty-one years of age he married Miss Almina Seward. To them were given four sons and two daughters who grew to worthy manhood and womanhood; and are still active in their communities. Accident and disease called him from earth at his home in Richland [South Dakota] in 1898."
