In the 'barnyard golf' tournament at the Frank Sayles place, southwest of town, Sunday afternoon, the "Bluffers" defeated the Westfield team. Otis Maynard's "Mudhens" challenged the winners, and the [Frank Sayles] "Bluffers" also won from them. The horseshoes will clink merrily at Richland [South Dakota] next Sunday, August 4, it is understood, when the "Mudhens" meet Pete Nelson's picked team.

HOLD HORSESHOE PITCHING MEET.
Five Teams Compete in a Tournament at Larson Grove Last Sunday.
.
A large crowd attended the horseshoe tournament held at Larson's grove, a mile east of Spink, South Dakota, Sunday. Five teams entered the contest: Kingsley, Iowa; Beresford, South Dakota; Elk Point, South Dakota; and two local teams, Frank Sayles "Bluffers" and N.P. Nielsen's "Regulars.".
.
The first match, between the Kingsley team and N.P. Nielsen's "Regulars," was won by Nielson's "Regulars" by a score of 3 to 2. The second match, between the Elk Point team and Frank Sayles' "Bluffers," was won by Sayles' "Bluffers" by a score of 3 to 0. The third match was played between the winners of the first and second matches, Nielsen's "Regulars" and Sayles' "Bluffers," and was won by the "Regulars" by a score of 3 to 0. As Nielsen's "Regulars" had won all of their matches, the final match was played between them and the Beresford team, and was won by Nielsen's "Regulars" by a score of 3 to 0.
.
Nielsen's "Regulars" showed their ability at horseshoe throwing in every game played and their victory was well earned.
.
After the team matches, twenty-nine players entered the fifty shoes scoring contest, for which six prizes were given, as follows:
.
First: Victor Taylor, Kingsley, Iowa.
Second: Wm. Christensen, Beresford, South Dakota.
Third: L.J. Meyers, Akron, Iowa.
Fourth: Wm. Curts, Worthing, South Dakota.
Fifth: C. Ericson, Beresford, South Dakota.
Sixth: Fred Drey, Beresford, South Dakota.
.
The tournament proved a success.
