Can you post any information on Joseph, such as names of his ten children and which of them had children, to provide more clues about Charles? These are some online clues.

Cedar Falls P. O., Black Hawk Co., IA, 1860, MILLEDGE: Joseph, 50; Emma, 37; George H., 9; Joseph, 7; Jay, 4. [Google "1930 census.]

In 1925, census at Philip, Haakon Co., SD, had Joseph H. MILLAGE, NY NY NY, who had married in 1893, Minnie WILES. [Was Minnie a nickname for Belle?]

According to those censuses, Joseph was b. 1806, 1808, 1810, & Emma was b. 1823 - 1829. Thus, they couldn't have been married 65 years in 1900. Since George was 9 in 1860, they probably married 1850. { What was the census taker thinking when he wrote that she was 70 & had been married 65 years?}

Do you have a reference for Joseph MILLAGE, born in 1812 and where in New York he was born?

There are several MILLAGE burials, first name not known, in Forest Hill Cem., Canton, & Pleasant Hill, Beresford, listed on SD Cemeteries (mostly from the WPA 1940's project).

The Joseph that died 19 Apr. 1927, bu. Mitchell, Davison Co., SD, was only one year old.

BLM land patents have only Charles & Joseph in Union Co., SD. Charles had Homestead & Joseph had Timber Culture, both in Twp. 93 - 49, Sec. 19.

SD Births (online) Charles MILLAGE & Mary / Marietta WILES had Clara, 14 Sep. 1894; Ada, 22 Je. 1896; Lee, 26 Jan. 1898; Elmer, 17 Aug. 1899; & Katie, 1 July 1902, all in Union Co.; in Clay Co., Lenora, 16 Jan. 1904; Evelyn, 30 Nov. 1905; Mary, 14 Dec. 1909.

You can find online, on Social Security Death Index,
Earl MILLAGE (28 Apr. 1895 - June 1983, last res. Philip, Haakon Co., SD) &
Lee MILLAGE (26 Jan. 1898 - July 1980, last res. Vermillion, SD). If you're not in the area, Google RAOGK to find a volunteer to check an obituary. That might help you find a relative researching this line.
