You need to look for the name STEEN in rural Beresford and Alcester, SD. There was a JACKSON living in Beresford into the 1970's, for what that's worth.

A google search for "Brian HASS, Beresford," will get you an entire page of entries for many of the cemeteries that he has recorded in the Berresford area. He has put them on Find-A-Grave and Interment.net. Some of the cemeteries he has recorded are in Lincoln and Clay counties as well as Union.

Also, in reading your post, you mention Canton, which is the county seat of Lincoln county. Canton is in northern Lincoln and is probably 25 miles from Union county. If the family did live in Lincoln county, there is a "Lincoln County History Book," published in the 1980's(?). The Canton city library likely has it in their holdings and could do a lookup if you e-mailed them. I would assume there would be a charge for this, but don't know for sure.
