You should list dates, even approximate ones, with each person in your list. If the people were alive in 1880, you might find them at FamilySearch.org, on the database of the 1880 census. If people were not yet born in 1880, you might find them on SSDI (Social Security Death Index, online). If people were born in South Dakota before 1905, you might find them at

http://www.state.sd.us/doh/VitalRec/birthrecords

If they patented land, you might find them at

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch
