I am a great-grandson of Adam McCain & grew up in Pennington Co.! Further, I plan to be in Rapid in mid-October for my 60th (!!!) HS Reunion.
Were you aware that Adam started a series of diaries, starting on his 40th birthday in 1862 & presumably, continued until death in 1901? I have received copies of & transcribed some of these diaries, including three that described the McCain move from PA to IA to DT in 1882/1883. The Pennington Co. Genie Forum **has** to have a (gratis) copy of my transcription! I can bring a hard copy in October. Can we post it somewhwere on the Internet? It is about 6.4 MB in length & it is INDEXED!!! (The excessive length is due to a number of photos of the early Dakota generation.)
I also have extensive information on the descendants of Adam & Lucinda.
