I am looking for information on a John Q. Houts.

Per one source, John Q. Houts was born in Indiana in 1848; went to Kansas in 1863; and removed to Sioux Falls in 1877. He married Lulu Dennison, a native of New York. Houts owned a billiard saloon in Sioux Falls.

Some important event in Houts life likely took place in Las Vegas, NM in 1870. This is a mystery I've been trying to solve for years.

John Q. Houts filed a patent application for a "Bottle Stopper" on September 21, 1880. Houts listed his home ass Sioux falls, in the county of Minnehaha and Territory of Dakota.

John Q. Houts was most likely related to A. B. Houts who also removed to Sioux Falls in 1877 and was in Kansas in 1863. A. B. is listed as a liquor dealer in the 1880s. He was born in Indiana 1812. He married Mary M. Smith, a native of Illinois. They had two chiledren - Minnie E. and Clara A. Houts.

By 1891 John Q. Houts may have moved to West Superior, WI.

I have information to share if you are related. Thanks.
