Hello again.
Sadly, I do not think these COOK's are related. But, I will keep this info, just in case.

Here is what I do know about my gg-grandfather, Calvin COOK.

Calvin COOK b: Abt. 1832 in Canada to an English father and German mother

He was in Modena, Buffalo, Wisconsin by 1870 and possibly as early as 1860 near the Frankfort, WI area.

He died on 31 July 1879. (An obit in the Buffalo paper only read that he died on that date in Modena, WI.) The 1880 census has him listed, but his name is crossed out and 'deceased' written in the border.

Another clue I found interesting and am trying to follow up on, with no success so far.....comes from a distant cousin descending from Calvin's son, George Percy Cook.

In a letter to Jerry Robert Kyle, dated December 4, 1989, Jane (Swenson) wrote:

"Grandpa Cook was one of three children, a sister named Nora and a brother she never knew the name of. George's father was in the Army and was killed in the War of 1812 in the Battle of Lundy's Lane and Bridgewater in upper Canada, presumably on the 25th of July, 1814 since that was the recorded date of the battle.
His wife, Sarah, went to live with her own people whose name was Lafferty. She had five or six Lafferty brothers all of whom who fought in the Civil War and at least four of them walked all the way to Atlanta and all survived and came back to South Dakota. I saw one of them who was at the very top of a band stand at a baseball game in S.D. when I was about ten. I had gone out to Timber (?) Lake with my folks."

With regards to Jane's recollections, I do NOT believe she could be correct about George's father. Calvin wasn't born until 1828 or 1832 in Canada. On census records, his father is listed as English. Based on dates, I think it could be probable that CALVIN COOK's grandfather may have been a British soldier and possibly killed in the Battle of Lundy's Lane in 1814.

Calvin Cook is my 'dead end' with the COOK line. I do not know where or when he came across the US border to Wisconsin or whether he may have had Cook brothers that settled in WI or further west in SD.
Given that Eldon Truman Cook was born in Vermont, I doubt these two COOK lines are related.
