Looking for information on the Gordon-McCall families in Garretson, SD.
Hannah Amelia Gordon born February 03, 1849 in Knox, Waldo County, Maine and died March 20, 1925 Garretson, Minnehaha County, South Dakota; married Charles Edwin McCall born June 05, 1844 St. Williams, Norfolk, England and died March 02, 1905 Garretson, Minnehaha County, South Dakota – both buried Garretson Cemetery – married May 01, 1872 Osseo, Trempealeau, Wisconsin. Hannah was a teacher in Wisconsin. The McCall’s owned the Garretson Hotel, which Hannah continued to run after her husband’s death and is listed in both the 1909 and the 1916 Business Directory as Mrs. C. E. McCall, proprietor of Garretson Hotel (rooms cost $1.50 per day in 1916 – with all modern conveniences). Her father, Thomas 'Jefferson' Gordon born 1822 in Knox, Waldo County, Maine, was with or near her when he died in 1908 in Garretson. Hannah and Charles had 4 children.
