I do think there is a connection. The younger Forrest probably was a grandson of S. B. / B. S.

FamilySearch has the family of Sloan Black LAMM (11 Apr. 1842/3, Boonville, Cooper, MO - 15 Apr. 1914, Ballston, Polk, OR; bu. LAMM children, others not known:

Paul Sheridan (11 May 1884, Silverton, OR - 10 S 1939)
Robert Pursley (5 Feb. 1890, Silverton, OR - 1 Aug. 1938).

FamilySearch shows the above family in 1880, Abiqua, Marion, OR: B. S. LAMB, 37, MO KY MO; wf. Tabitha, 27, MO; sons Forrest, 4, MO; John, 3, MO; & Frank, 1, OR.

Cooper Co. Deaths: LAMM, Margaret, married, aged 48 - 10 - _, date of death not listed, death reported 11 May 1887; b. MO, d. Overton, of pneumonia, b. Copps / Kopp Chapel Cem. [47:2]. --Is that the same Margaret that d. Apr. 1887, bu. Clayton?

Can you clear up any of the problems with the above data? Perhaps you could find other obituaries for the above family members to try to find Forest. Also, if you could put together the family group and post it, you might find somebody else researching the family. Good Luck!
