I did some more research. George was convicted in June 1900 of second-degree murder and sentenced to 14 years in the state penitentiary. 3 years earlier, he had lost his left leg in a train accident and wore a wooden leg. He received a settlement from the railroad and "had a gay old time" while the money lasted. Now- are you sure that Webster G. and George W. aren't the same man? Because I think that maybe that might be the case. I can't find either of them in the 1910 census. But in 1920 Webster appears again as a boarder, which would make sense. I'll keep working on this next week. Notify Administrator about this message?
