ohmygosh .. Marilyn!!

It's done! Wondering and searching and wondering - over!

I knew to put names in quotation marks when searching, but never thought to put the + in front of anything else I wanted to add, I just typed it in. I don't know if the + did it, or if I just happened to look up the right name tonight - but I found a couple of posts HERE, under "M", from a real live family member! ohmygosh

Several years ago I was lucky enough to have my entire adoption files sent to me, so I had lots of names and info, but couldn't for the life of me find anyone who was without a doubt related. Heck, I couldn't find anyone who even came close! It was beginning to seem surreal - wondering for 45 years, finally getting up the nerve to take action, obtaining names, dates, locations - only to find that somehow, in a Twilight Zone sort of way, that none of these people ever actually existed! wow.

Adopted people have different reactions. My (adopted) sister has little if any interest in her bio family. My (adopted) brother has some, but not enough to pursue it. And me - jeez - I've wondered since I can remember. Feeling empty on many of my birthdays, wondering if my mom was thinking about me on that day, having conversations with her, etc. And even with all of those feelings, if the only thing I ever learned about my bio family was her first name, I'd be content..but I NEEDED to know that.

wow. I have a history! Don't know a lot of it, but I have one! btw, yes, I responded to the post I found.

I only registered here and made public my search 5 days ago! Who'd a thunk it?

You & I only exchanged a couple of emails, But I want to thank you and let you know how important that first email was. Even if you'd only written - Hi, I hear you. Hang in there - it would have been enough and just what I needed. I honestly didn't expect much in the way of results.

Thank you, Marilyn {{hug}}

Sincerely, nancy (btw, you might enjoy reading a post I wrote in the Memory Lane forum, entitled "I'll never forget...")
