I am looking for Lewis and Martha Tesdahl, particularly Martha. I wish to confirm that Martha was the daughter of Halvor Eliasson and Malene Olsdatter of the Fjeldberg parish in Sunnhordland, Norway. She would then have been a sister of my ggrandfather, Elling Halverson.
Lewis and Martha lived in central Iowa, Story County, Union Twp. and then, I believe, they migrated to South Dakota. The 1880 federal census shows Lewis, 51, Martha, 53, Lewis, 22, Andrew, 19, Isabel, 20, Carrie, 17, Anny, 16, Ellen, 15, Martha, 13, and Ida, 10. I wish to know if they did settle in S. Dak. and, if so, where. I find no record of them after the 1880 census.
The name Tesdahl has a variety of spellings in the records, three of which I have shown.
