How do I get a copy of a South Dakota death, marriage or divorce certificate?
Write to Vital Records, SD Department of Health, 600 E. Capitol, Pierre, SD 57501-2536. Include fee with request, payable to South Dakota Department of Health.
Submit a credit card order online or by phone at 605-773-4961. Additional $10 expedited fee per request for all credit card, online and phone orders.
Death records are also available at the register of deeds office in the county where the death occurred.
Marriage records are also available at the register of deeds in either the county where the marriage license was purchased or where the marriage occurred.
Divorce records are also available at the clerk of courts in the county where the divorce took place.
